Wellness Starts Here. At the GW Cancer Prevention and Wellness Center, located on the historic St. Elizabeths campus in Southeast Washington, DC. The Wellness Center was established as a welcoming space for proactive, community-centered health and wellness. Just steps from the Congress Heights Metro Station, it focuses on reducing cancer risk and improving overall well-being, especially for historically underserved residents in communities East of the River.
Help us raise $10,000 to power community programs at our new home for prevention, connection, and everyday health and wellness.
A Community Hub for Health and Hope
More than a building, the Wellness Center is a hub for empowerment and connection. Through expert-led classes, community events, and clinical research opportunities, it helps individuals take control of their health using the six pillars of lifestyle medicine. Your gift will support future programming to include:
• Fitness & Movement: beginner-friendly classes, walking groups, chair yoga, strength & balance
• Cancer Screenings: screening navigation, reminders, transportation support, follow-up help
• Food & Nutrition: cooking classes, pantry connections, budget-smart grocery tours
• Stress & Sleep: mindfulness, breathwork, sleep hygiene, coping skills for patients & caregivers
• Community Joy: family movie nights, health fairs, neighborhood events that bring us together
